Norway August 2026

  • Nordic Paddling Norway (map)

I have teamed up with Rasmus from Nordic Paddling to embark on a very special 6-day trip in the Lysefjord, Norway — one of Europe’s most spectacular kayaking areas. The trip features wild nature experiences on the water, overnight stays in nature, and a hike up to the famous Pulpit Rock.

This is a complete outdoor experience: every day is filled with hiking and/or kayaking and connection with stunning nature — surrounded by steep mountain walls, clear fjord waters, waterfalls, and views of Pulpit Rock from the fjord. You will experience the Lysefjord in its most authentic element with camping under the stars, campfires, and fellowship with other adventurous participants.

This is what the trip looks like

  • We will meet at Stavanger Airport at 10:00 (I’m landing at 09:45) or at Sandnes Sentrum Station at appx. 10:45, and from there we will head together to our kayak starting point in Lysefjorden.

We will start the kayak trip a little further out into the fjord than the classic route, which gives us a beautiful first stage of approximately 18 km to our first campsite.

Here we will get to know each other and the equipment, pitch tents, cook and enjoy our first evening together in nature, while the fjord shows itself from its most beautiful side.

  • We stay on land and have one of the greatest hiking experiences.

We walk up to Preikestolen along the lesser-known “back road” – a route that starts right down by the fjord and is far more beautiful and less traveled than the classic path.

The route is approximately 14 km return with about 600 meters of elevation gain, which requires good physical fitness and stable hiking form. In return, we get a much more magnificent and peaceful experience of the area with viewpoints and nature far from the largest tourist flows.

When we are back at camp, we have time to relax, reflect on the highlights of the trip and enjoy a cozy evening together with tired legs and satisfied smiles.

  • After breakfast we pack up camp and continue our journey deeper into the fjord. Today's kayaking experience offers impressive scenery, high rock walls, waterfalls and the fjord's unique light and tranquility.

We paddle approximately 18 km and reach the next campsite on the shore of the fjord, where we pitch a tent, take a well-deserved swim and enjoy dinner together by the campfire.

If the group has the desire and energy, we can choose an alternative camp, which extends the day's route by approximately +7 km.

  • Today is another day of kayaking adventure. We start the day with breakfast, pack up camp and are ready to paddle further through the Lysefjord. Here we get even closer to the fjord's variety — quiet bays, steep cliffs and, in short, magnificent Norwegian nature.

The pace is leisurely, and there is plenty of time for photos, reflection and experiencing the surroundings from the kayak. After a day on the water, we set up camp, go for a swim and cook dinner together in nature.

  • This day starts with a shorter kayaking stretch of about 5 km, after which we pack our equipment and start the day's hike: up to Kjeragbolten - one of the most iconic viewpoints in the area.

The hike is demanding and typically takes between 5 and 7 hours, where we move up through the valleys, over rocks and via a few easier scrambling sections. The reward is a completely unique view over the fjord and the famous Kjeragbolten, which many have seen in pictures - but which is something very special to experience in person.

When we are back at camp, we can relax with dinner, coziness and reflection on the day's great experience.

  • On the last day, we take our time in the morning to pack up camp before hopping aboard the ferry across the fjord – a relaxing and perspective-rich final experience where we can enjoy the landscape from the water one last time.

After arriving at the starting point, we drive back towards Stavanger, where the tour ends at 4:00 PM at Stavanger Airport.

Why come on this trip with me?

This trip is not just a standard trip — it's an experience created with passion:

Focus on the experience over logistics
We take care of everything from the moment you step out of the airport until you get back to the airport - so you can focus on just enjoying the trip.

We create memories together — not alone
Many dream of going on such adventures, but it can be difficult to go alone. With this group, we ensure that everyone is welcome, feels safe and has someone to share the experiences with.

New acquaintances & community
This is a social trip — we will laugh, talk and share experiences under the stars and by the campfire. You will make friends you probably would never have met otherwise.

No extra costs
The price is the same as if you booked the trip yourself with Nordic Paddling — I do not make a profit from the trip. I do it because I want to go on an adventure with you, who would not immediately have anyone to take on such a trip.
