I've teamed up with Will from Kayak Summer Isles to embark on a very special 3-day trip to Arisaig, Scotland— Togethere we will explore the area, known for its white sandy beaches, turquoise waters, raw, open coastal landscapes, and maybe see an ancient castle. The trip offers great kayaking days, overnight stays in the wild, fun, and fellowship.
This is what the trip looks like
This three-day journey is fully flexible, allowing us to adapt to the wind and sea conditions each day. From quiet, mountainous sea lochs to wild, exposed coastline, the area offers an incredible variety of scenery. White sand beaches and abundant wildlife are a constant throughout — the exact route simply depends on where the best conditions lie - this is the west coast of Scotland after all.
The aim would be to paddle around 15 km. a day.
Here’s one way the expedition could unfold:
-
We meet at Inverness railway station at 8am and drive together to Arisaig, where we launch from the peaceful west coast village.
From here we paddle west toward the stunning Arisaig Skerries. This maze-like archipelago of white sand beaches and turquoise shallows is often compared to the Caribbean. It’s rich in wildlife and offers countless idyllic spots to land for lunch, photos, and exploration. As we weave between islands, we’ll focus on building paddling confidence and refining skills in sheltered yet engaging waters. Our first night will be wild camping beside a white sand beach, with sweeping views across to Isle of Rum, Eigg and Skye. After pitching tents, we’ll prepare a fresh, hearty meal and watch the sun set over the Hebrides.
-
Leaving the shelter of the skerries, we continue along the coastline, experiencing more of the sea’s movement. There may be opportunities to challenge ourselves — navigating rocky channels, exploring hidden coves, and refining our boat handling in more dynamic conditions. As we approach Loch nan Uamh, we may catch a glimpse of the famous Jacobite steam train — known to many as the Hogwarts Express from Harry Potter — winding its way through the surrounding mountains. The loch is scattered with rocky islets and is home to seals and dolphins, with occasional sightings of minke or even humpback whales. We’ll choose one of several spectacular remote camping spots for our second night — an opportunity to unwind, reflect, and soak in the tranquillity of sea and mountain far from civilisation.
-
On our final day, we paddle around the dramatic Ardnish Peninsula and into the striking Loch Ailort. The scenery here contrasts beautifully with the open skerries of Day 1 — steep, rugged mountains rising directly from the water. There will be time to explore remote beaches and scattered islands, excellent places to spot sea otters playing in tidal streams. Our final stretch takes us to the head of the loch, mountains towering on either side — a fitting and memorable finish to a diverse and rewarding three days on the water.
When we are done kayaking for the day we will pack up and head back to Inverness.
Why come on this trip with me?
This trip is not just a standard trip — it's an experience created with passion:
Focus on the experience over logistics
We take care of everything from the moment you step out of the airport until you get back to the airport - so you can focus on just enjoying the trip.
We create memories together — not alone
Many dream of going on such adventures, but it can be difficult to go alone. With this group, we ensure that everyone is welcome, feels safe and has someone to share the experiences with.
New acquaintances & community
This is a social trip — we will laugh, talk and share experiences under the stars and by the campfire. You will make friends you probably would never have met otherwise.
No profit
The price is almost the same as if you booked the trip with Kayak Summer Isles yourself, the only extra is the cost of transport/a hire car — I do not make a profit from the trip. I do it because I want to go on an adventure with you.
